Have you ever thought of using Email to get your point across? Do you know that the great majority of people use the internet for Email more than for browsing? Often, like right now (especially right now) I am still reeling with the impact that Email can have to quickly put people in the know. Also, Email has many controls that allow you to do many things that you can't do otherwise. For example, you can send group mailings and auto replies. Check it out! Or you could just use a BLOG.

Do you know who controls the amount of Email you get. You do! So if you're not getting enough, sign up for more websites or Email someone you know (you might have to ask them for their Email address). Getting too much Email? Get an anti-spam program or just use whatever filtering options your Email provider gives you. Now controlling the quality? That's just something you'll have to work on.

Want to know the best way to move files around? Simply use icons and click and drag them around. For example, if you have a file up on your screen go to File, Send, then make a shortcut to your desktop. Then you open any folder including any one of your drives and then click on the icon, move it to the folder, and release the left mouse button. It's that simple! Now try it in reverse.

What do you do when you lose data? Well, hopefully you'll do something before that happens. Without backup, there's not much you cando. It's wise to backup your files as you are working every few minutes or so. Just go to File and then save your file and overwrite any previous saves so you have the most recent copy readily available. There are other ways to backup but the important thing is just do it!

Tired of surfing the Net? Or maybe you never really cared for it in the first place. Well, there are other things you can do with technology besides stare at it. For instance, you can use it to communicate with others or post your own website. I'm not just talking about Blogger. There are tons of free web hosting services out there and Web Ev can show you how to use the blank spaces. Just click on M3 Web Ev and then go to the Research link to learn about HTML. It's an easy language to learn and use and, yes, it is still in use. Believe me, the Web is the modern equivalent of the telephone. You don't want to just hear people talk, do you?

Is your website getting stale? Mine is. Don't marvel that I say that it's getting stale; most do. You see, most of your visitors are likely to be repeat visitors and they have already seen what you have to offer. You have to turn the soil, so to speak, to come up with something that no one has seen before. I'm not saying you need to do a whole site re-design. Just add something new on a regular basis. It will be obvious to anyone who has visted even a couple of times that something new has been added. Of course, there are always ways of making new additions stand out distinctly too. I think you'll find that the only thing that enhances your web traffic more than that is advertising or site submissions. But even those new visitors will get tired of your site quite soon if it's just the same old thing again. Spruce it up! You'll be glad you did.

Did you know there are evil programs in use which are even worse than the viruses we've heard so much about. They're called "trojan horses" and they can be embedded on your computer from an outside source. Then when they are activated they can be traced back to your computer. Some may even be used by terrorists to target government facilities. Now that's really insidious! What can you do? Keep your operating system security updated. If you're using Windows, go to Windows Update on your Start menu or go to Windows Update using this link. Keep your operating system updated and you will thank the Lord you did!

Today I've been running maintenance programs on the Ole PC. If you haven't defragged lately you should. It took over an hour to get my files under wraps. Proper software maintenance can keep your computer running swiftly and smoothly. Just go to your Start menu > Programs> Accessories> System Tools> then select the program you need. If you don't take the time to do these fixes weekly or bi-weekly, you'll have no one to blame but yourself. Really, don't you have better things to do than to wait for your PC? Also, if you just run disk cleanup and defragment bi-weekly it won't take an hour like me. Maybe ten or fifteen minutes tops!
